COURSE CONTENT This presentation will feature an analysis of the current Illinois statutory and case law with respect to Offenses against the Elderly. 

1.      An analysis of the current status of the Elder Abuse and Neglect Act and Related Laws; and the Financial Crimes against the Elderly laws will be provided. 

2.      The latest additions to and amendments of Illinois’ Offenses against the Elderly statutes will be listed and analyzed.  

Officers will be advised of the elements of these offenses, what to look for when investigating these offenses and what special needs the victims of these offenses have.

Publications used in this presentation will be a list of Offenses against the Elderly as found in the Illinois Statutes; a Protocol for Law Enforcement, Who Responding to Victims of Elder Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation; the Elder Abuse and Neglect Act and Related Laws; and a study of Financial Crimes Against the Elderly.
