This Emergency Vehicle Operator Course provides emergency vehicle operators with the knowledge and skills to safely operate an emergency vehicle in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Day one will begin with classroom discussion.
- Day two involves Range Instruction and Performing Maneuvers
- Day Three consisting of Practice Teaching Range Exercises with more of this on Day Four
- Day Four New Skills and a Written Exam and Teaching Techniques Final Exam.
GOALS: This Instructor Training Course goal is to train police officers so that they can master the EVOC/ADE Instructor Training and then teach these skills to fellow officers. Additionally, this instruction is to provide hands-on training to participants and allow them to use driving skills in emergency situations. The ultimate goal is to reduce highway crashes thus reducing the human and monetary costs associated with them.

- Set Up Driving Exercises
- Evasive Driving
- Off-Road Recovery
- Controlled Braking
- Off-Set Lane Skid Control
- Serpentine
- Perform Modified Driving Maneuvers
All equipment and vehicles for training will be provided for by Southern Illinois University Safety Center.
