Judgmental Use of Force Simulator &

De-Escalation Training (300 degree Virtra Simulator)

The V-300™ is the higher standard for decision-making simulation and tactical firearms training.  Five screens and a 300-degree immersive training environment ensures that time in the simulator translates into real world survival skills.

Course Content: Officers will find themselves completely immersed in the scenarios and will have the ability to review their performance on the system recording used for debriefings on each scenario. Officers will be exposed to training on the following topics: 

·   Review the legal aspects of the reasonable (unreasonable) use of force and its ethical issues

·   Decision-making abilities will be challenged

·   Some scenarios are opportunities to De-Escalate the situation and avoid the use of force

·   Officers must determine what is a crime and what may be a mental health crisis

·   Use of force decision making and application

·   When De-Escalation is practical and in the best interest of all involved

Officers will have the opportunity to react to scenarios using verbal commands, officer presence, OC spray, Taser, and firearms.  The instructors will direct the scenarios to various outcomes according to the performance of the officer’s verbal and non-verbal communication. They will have the opportunity to watch other officers handle scenarios and be able to offer input on tactics.

Officers are required to bring duty belts, but NO FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, OC or TASERS will be allowed in the classroom.  There is a limit of 4 students per session.
