COURSE CONTENT:

This program will be beneficial to any officer wishing to act in the capacity of Juvenile Officer for their respective jurisdiction and to meet the requirements of PUBLIC ACT 88-7, which defines a juvenile police officer and mandates training requirements in this regard.

The program will provide officers with the skills and techniques useful in handling problems encountered when dealing with the Juvenile Justice System.  Each trainee will receive training materials for future use. 

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Overview of Juvenile Justice System
  • Juvenile Court Ac
  • Custody and Detention
  • Physical and Sexual Abuse
  • Gangs
  • Juvenile Substance Abuse

This is a State Certified course.  Students must attend all instruction and pass a written examination with a score of at least 70%.  If able, student should bring a copy of the Juvenile Court Act to class.
