4 hr. (pm) L.E. Liability Case Law Update-Sycamore

COURSE CONTENT:

This presentation will use the IPS Law Enforcement Liability Update.  Discussions will include the latest Illinois and Federal cases dealing with law enforcement liability and the Illinois Tort Immunity statutes and how they are being applied to law enforcement officers. 

Topics will include:  

• High Speed Chases;
• Use of Force (including deadly force);
• Wrongful Arrest and Malicious Prosecution;
• Unreasonable Searches and Seizures;
• and many other related topics. 

Numerous case examples will be used to illustrate each of these problem areas. 

Included within these discussions will be an analysis of the latest Illinois Legislative enactments including Racial Profiling and the 2004 Illinois Civil Rights Act.   Copies of the Law Enforcement Liability Update and other related Digests will be available.
