Purpose: Reinforce proper Handgun skills, build shooters confidence, increase speed and accuracy.

The instructor will review:

  • Dry Practice
  • Presentation of the pistol
  • The fundamentals of marksmanship
  • Manipulation of the Pistol
  • Ready Positions
  • Malfunctions
  • Target Engagements
  • Shooting and moving (getting off the “X”)

Goals:    Improve marksmanship skills, reloading skills & malfunction clearance skills

Instruction activities will include:

  • Proper “Grip” review
  • One shot drills
  • Three shot drills
  • Speed reloading
  • Tactical reloading
  • Administrative reloading
  • Class 1 malfunction drill
  • Class 2 malfunction drill
  • Class 3 malfunction drill

Equipment needed:

·         duty belt & holster (patrol/uniform)

o   concealed holster & two magazine pouches (investigations/non-uniform)

         ·         at least 3 magazines

·         200 rds. of ammunition

·         Eye and Ear Protection

·         Body armor

·         Ball cap

·         Non-Skid Shoes

·         Appropriate clothing for range work (i.e. high neck shirts)

·         (6) DUMMY ROUNDS

 

There are some required MTU1 waivers to be completed prior to the class.

Agencies will be supplied the forms after they register an officer for this training.

 

The firearms training waivers must be received by MTU1 prior to the training date

IMPORTANT- if this is the first time the officer attends training at this facility they will need the following information from the officer when the officer checks in at the business desk to sign their waiver.  Officers need to have this information handy
