COURSE CONTENT: This course is designed to meet IACP Standards that recommend SFST Instructors attend 8 hours of refresher training every two years.  Since the SFST curriculums were updated March 2018, all current instructors should attend this course to become familiar with the changes. The last instructor refresher was held in 2014.

Course Goals and Objectives

This course will provide you with specific information on how to effectively train and motivate SFST practitioners.  Participants will be able to:

Describe how learning strategies contribute to training effectiveness and improve learning and retention by 31%

• Apply facilitation skills

• Review and use the standard NHTSA/IACP SFST lessons plans

• Develop and use training aids

• Pass the written exam and a proficiency test

 

Course Agenda:

1. Review 2018 SFST Curriculum revisions

2. Sample DWI Detection SFST Sessions 3, 6, 7, 8 and 11

3. Conduct Proficiency Exam

4. Review SFST IDC Sessions 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 10

5. Conduct Written Exam and Course Evaluation

6. Review Introduction to Drugs  

IMPORTANT

Participants are asked to bring a laptop Each participant will receive all of the materials to conduct SFST courses on a flash drive that contains the 2018 DWI Detection – SFST (3-day) curriculum; the SFST Refresher; and the SFST IDC curriculum.  Included are the Instructor Manual, Participant Manual, Power Points, and Exams for each course.  In addition, over 100 other files will be included as resource material to assist the instructor add information to the Power Point slides.
