DOMESTIC VIOLENCE-FAMILY LAW ANALYSIS
This presentation has been modified to analyze the Key Psychology of Domestic Violence Training Guidelines mandated by the Training Standards Board as required by Public Act 99-0810 – Eff: 1-1-17. It will feature an analysis of the current Illinois law with respect to the duties, authorities and responsibilities of Illinois Law Enforcement Officers concerning Family Law and Domestic Violence. An analysis of the current status of the various orders of protection and the rights of victims of domestic violence will be given. Featured will be an analysis of the current Illinois Domestic Violence Act and related statutory provisions. Additionally, an analysis of Law Enforcement duties and responsibilities of the new Firearms Restraining Order Act with be provided and discussed. [NOTE: Pursuant to Public Act: 102-0345 – Eff: 6-1-22, every law enforcement officer must receive annual Firearms Restraining Order training.]. Emphasis will be given to issues of Crisis Intervention and De-escalation Training. [The Key Crisis Intervention Training Guidelines will be analyzed.]. Included will be discussions of the most recent legislation and case law dealing with these topics.
