Full Speed Ahead for Police Training in Illinois!!

7/1/2016 12:00:00 AM

We are pleased to report that, as of yesterday evening, the Governor has signed the stopgap budget. While the makeshift budget passed by both houses, and later signed into law by Governor Rauner (PA 99-0524), was intended as a stopgap to keep the state government afloat for the next six months and ensure schools open this fall, it included the full FY17 appropriation for the Training & Standards Board. In addition to this encouraging news, we were also notified that no action was taken on the overweight truck bill (HB 3126 SA2) the Training & Standards Board opposed. Many Chiefs and Sheriffs around the state did send letters to oppose the bill in response to a request for assistance. We thank everyone who contacted lawmakers to help defeat the bill.We are now able to forge full speed ahead and plan our training schedule without concern of having to cancel training because of budget issues. Please keep an eye on our training calendar!
