COURSE CONTENT:  This presentation will feature an analysis of the SEXUAL ASSAULT INCIDENT PROCEDURE ACT.  This new law (Public Act 099-0801), which went into effect on January 1, 2017, contains requirements for law enforcement agencies regarding the handling of sexual assaults and sexual abuse offenses.  Topics of discussion with respect to this new Act will include:

·         Mandatory Report Writing

·         Additional Responding Officer Responsibilities

·         Collecting, Storing, and Testing of Sexual Assault Evidence

·         Release of Information to the Victim Relating to Evidence Testing.

An analysis of the guidelines produced by the Office of the Illinois Attorney General and other law enforcement organizations with respect to this Act will be presented.

As time allows, the latest additions to and amendments of the Illinois’ Sex Offense and Sex Offender laws will be listed and analyzed.  An analysis of the current status of the Sex Offender Registration Act; the Sex Offender Community Notification Act; the Sexually Dangerous Persons Act; and the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act may also be included.

REGISTRATION:  All registrations are received on the MTU#1 website. When registering for a distant learning class, you must access the registration via the training calendar.
