Hazardous Materials Awareness

This training fulfills the requirement of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and United States Environmental Protection Agency (OSHA/USEPA) final rule for emergency response personnel who may be the first on-the-scene at a hazardous materials incident.  This course is directed to law enforcement officers.         

The Illinois Department of Labor enforces the rules within all state, county and municipal work sites.  This is mandatory training and non-compliance can result in citation and fine under the Illinois Department of Labor rules. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Identify the risks associated with hazardous materials.

Recognize and identify hazardous materials using several different methods.

Define the law enforcement officer’s role as first-on-the-scene.

Organize essential information into a plan knowing who to call for assistance.
