Course Description: This Sniper course is designed for operating snipers and is not a basic Sniper training.  Emphasis of training will be on constitutional use of force, unconventional shooting positions, construction of hides in varying environments, culminating in an extended scenario, involving the application of all learned skills, and the coordination and deployment of multiple sniper elements.

  • Use of Force
  • ILETSB Use of Force Brochure
  • Unconventional shooting positions lecture
  • Unconventional shooting positions live fire application
  • Hide environments
  • Hide materials
  • Hide construction, both urban and rural
  • Scenario w/ stalk using blanks
  • Skill testing of effectiveness of various hide positions
  • Live fire confirmation of positions on steel targets

Required equipment:

  • Sniper weapon system
  • 100 rounds ammunition
  • Data book
  • Issued stalking and hide mission equipment (cammo, tripods, etc.)
  • Bag lunch
  • Water
  • Sunscreen/bug juice
  • Ear pro

          o   Policy concepts

          o   Use of force

    - Unconventional shooting

         o   Lecture

         o   Practical – multiple distances, positions, off of varying objects

    -  Hides

         o   Lecture – location selection, materials used

         o   Practical – build hides at various locations on the property and test effectiveness

     - Practical – roll players move into position and begin scenario

         o   Mission briefing – receive op order and mission description

         o   Comms briefing – receive radio and nomenclature for mission

         o   Safety brief – safety protocols put into place, .308 blanks are distributed

         o   Execution – all teams deploy to assigned areas
