Purpose of Course:  This training has been designed with the purpose of addressing the issues of sex offenders and assuring that law enforcement has the tools necessary to approach, interrogate and better understand the workings of the mind of several categories of sex offenders. They prey on the most vulnerable in our society and will not cease this deviant behavior without legal consequences. The training includes interviews with several categories of sexual offenders. An actual police interrogation will be presented for analysis and critiques.

Course Goals:  For participants to more fully understand sexual offenders and their crimes.  Strategies to identify the psychological profiles of common sexual offenders, behaviors they display and the routines that they utilize to gain access to victims.  

The skills addressed will include, but not be limited to, will be the following:

  • Identification of the various profiles/ typologies of sex offenders
  • Increased ability in identification of psychological profile of sex offenders
  • Be better able to understand the deviant motives of sex offender’s
  • Understand the common strategies used by offenders to avoid detection
  • Be better able to understand the cycle of recidivism of sex offenders
  • Understand the clinical process designed to reduce recidivism
  • Understand the strategies used by offenders to gain sexual compliance
  • Better able to interview and interrogate offenders
