Training for Custodial Escort and Custody of High-Risk Committed Persons

This course will provide an overview of prisoner transport, including the three phases of transport: Preparation, Planning, and Transportation.

 

Students will be prepared to describe and demonstrate the responsibilities of staff to transport prisoners outside of the correctional facility.  Topics covered:

 

                        The phase of transport

                        Departure/arrival procedures

                        Staff to prisoner ratio

                        Contraband searches

                        Restraint procedure

                        Weapons retention and defense against a prisoner’s attack

 

The course will consist of two hours in the classroom and four hours of practical exercises. The course satisfies the mandate established in Public Act 100-1051 for correctional employees.
