PURPOSE OF COURSE:
This five-day, 40-hour course was designed to provide law enforcement trainers with the skills needed to properly instruct our 8-hour Emergency Vehicle Operator Course. By successfully completing this program, students will be qualified to teach their fellow law enforcement officers, as well as other personnel, proper techniques for tactical driving.
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This program is designed to qualify instructors to teach the 8-hour Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course. Students will receive classroom instruction in the vehicle operations and dynamics, as well as practical experience on the driving range. Students will also gain actual teaching experience by instructing portions of the 8-hour course.
COURSE GOALS: The goals of this course are,
- To provide students with an opportunity to become proficient in the presentation of the instructional material.
- Assist students in reducing the number of severities of traffic accidents involving personnel from their respective law enforcement agencies.
- To provide students with an opportunity to further develop and refine their driving skills.
This course has been certified by the ILETSB and approved to meet the following mandates:
Constitutional & Proper Use of Law Enforcement Authority - .50 hours
Procedural Justice - 8 hours
Partial funding provided by Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and MTU#1’s request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
