Operators will be trained in the use of observation and precision rifle fire to ensure the best possible outcome to a SWAT incident. Live fire and range components will be held at various locations in and around Rockford and Rochelle, Illinois.

- Zeroing procedure
- Data book usage
- DOPE recording
- Moving target engagements
- Positional shooting
- Hide construction
- Stress shooting
- Command and coordinated fire
Required equipment:
- Precision rifle capable of 1 MOA or better. NO HUNTING RIFLES
- Small soft bag/ Sand sock
- 400 rds. ammunition of match ammunition from the same lot
- Data book
- Hide construction materials if available
- Ghillie suit if available
- Tri-pod w/ saddle if available
- Hide vehicle if available
- Pack for equipment
- Ear protection
Class schedule is:
Monday -Wednesday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday – 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, class is shot at an outdoor range and is a full day of shooting. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch and proper hydration for a day on the range.
This course has been certified by the ILETSB and approved to meet the following mandates:
- De-Escalation Techniques - 10 hours / 10 hours scenario based
- Officer Safety Techniques - 20 hours / 16 hours scenario based
- Use of Force – 5 hours
- Legal Updates - .5 hours
