PURPOSE OF COURSE: 
This 3-hour training program has been designed to provide students with the tools needed to recognize and properly treat wounds in the field. 

COURSE OVERVIEW: 
Students will receive in-depth instruction on the preparation and application of basic and advanced trauma care. The training will provide students with the skills and knowledge to treat and survive traumatic injuries which will include but are not limited to: the use of tourniquets, packing/wrapping wounds and applying chest seals.  

COURSE GOALS: 
The goals of this course are as follows: 
1. Students will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms associated with life- threatening injuries and be able to apply the appropriate care and / or communicate the injury to paramedics in order to provide the appropriate care.
2. Students will understand the proper use and limitations of applying tourniquets, wound packing, pressure dressings and chest  seals.

This course has been certified by the ILETSB and approved to meet the following mandates:
Emergency Medical Response - 3 hours
