INTRODUCTION: Personal introduction of instructor:
Jared currently serves in law enforcement as a Corrections Officer for a large jail in Northern Illinois. He has worked there for 18 years. Jared is a member of the CERT Team and is assigned to the department's full time training division.
He is a Master Firearms Instructor (PTI) and armorer for the Glock and AR15 platform. He is certified through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) as a Firearms Instructor, Tactical Firearms Instructor, and Patrol Rifle Instructor. Other certifications include Safariland Less Lethal, Tac Medic, ALERRT active shooter trainer, and RDS Pistol Instructor, CQB Instructor, and others.
He founded DMEC in 2004 to serve as a training ground for civilian and law enforcement shooters. A perpetual student himself, he attends numerous classes each year, to better shape himself as an instructor, and to provide better content and classes for his students. Regardless of their mission set, he strives to push his students to be Most Capable.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Low Light Concepts will provide students with a solid and functional overview of handheld light and weapon mounted light techniques. Ways and reasons to deploy lights will be discussed and shown. Light verbiage and nomenclature will be shown in detail so students understand "why." Deploying light passed and around cover and concealment will be shown and discussed. Students will work through dry repetition and live fire drills to practice technique and hone skills. One handed shooting will also be shown and practiced, as it related to hand held light technique.

Required equipment to bring to class:
- 300 rounds minimum
- Duty belt and duty firearm, 3 magazines
- Handheld light with fresh batteries
- Weapon mounted light (if issued/authorized)
- Eye and ear protection
- Duty vest
- Sharpie
This course has been certified by the ILETSB and approved to meet the following mandates:
- De-Escalation Techniques - 5.0 hours
- Emergency Medical Response - .50 hours
- Officer Safety Techniques - 1.0 hours
