COURSE OVERVIEW:
This I-day control and arrest tactics course will encompass control holds, pressure points, takedowns and ground fighting. The concept of controlling an active resister with standing controls, takedowns, and disengaging to get to another tool will be discussed and practiced. Officers will also acquire skills to defend themselves on the ground against an aggressive assailant and deadly force assailant. Officers will learn use of force decision making based on the "reasonable officer" philosophy.
The program will benefit police and corrections officers. Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring handcuffs and a duty belt for hands-on practical exercises. Safe but effective resistance drills will be performed under the supervision of the instructor.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: This course is conducted using the following methods of instruction:

RECOMMENDED INSTRUCTIONAL AIDS: Instructors will utilize a lap top computer, multi-media projector, and screen when teaching the classroom portion. Instructors will also need a matted area for performing defensive tactics. Wrestling shoes will be provided, depending on the location
Students will need comfortable clothing and duty gear, including handcuffs and cuff key. NO WEAPONS ON THE MATS, INCLUDING HANDGUN, PEPPER SPRAY, TASER, AND EXPANDABLE BATON.
