COURSE CONTENT: During their workday patrol officers are asked to obtain photographic evidence for a variety of cases they investigate and not all cases warrant the response of a crime scene unit or detective.

The cameras in use today are automatic when it comes to settings, but a patrol officer still needs to understand the basics. Officers will be taught a general understanding of photographic rules for evidence and other techniques. These skills will help officers obtain evidence photos in varying lighting conditions. They will learn how to tell the “story” through pictures, at a time the public expects photograph and video evidence.

This training will consist of these topics:

·      Camera styles - similarities and differences

·      Settings – Flash, Macro, “P” vs Automatic

·      Lighting and Nighttime photos

·      Story Telling through pictures

·      Hands-on training

Participants need to bring the department camera they would use while on duty
