PURPOSE OF COURSE: This one- day, 8-hour program has been designed by Echelon Front based on "Extreme Ownership" written by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. All mate1ial is copywritten by Echelon Front. This course will be a collaboration between Echelon Front instructors and the NEMRT Instructor CAIR Team. This collaboration will examine the principles of Extreme Ownership as applied directly to Illinois Law Enforcement through case scenarios.
COURSE OVERVIEW: This course has been designed by Echelon Front in collaboration with the Certified Law Enforcement Instructor CAIR Team, to provide officers with additional methods and information for development of leadership skills at all rank levels. All materials are copywritten by Echelon Front and may not be duplicated without written permission from Echelon Front.
The format of this class will be the application of leadership principles through discussions and scenario reviews.
Topics to be discussed include the following:
• Leadership
• Accepting responsibility
• Mission
• Managing teams and networking
• Managing egos: impact on police powers, interviewing and case investigations
• Cover and Move: establishing goals and working together as a team, networking with partners for a common goal.
• Simplifying goals, mission, and orders so that all members understand the why.
• Listening: interviewing skills, collaborating with others, working with your department
• Managing subordinates
• Prioritizing tasks and goals: working cases, answering calls, crisis situations.
• Decentralized Command: examine growth as a leader at all levels, task force models.
• Leading Up and Down the Chain of Command
• Decisive decision making
• Discipline
COURSE GOALS: The goals of this course are to increase knowledge and understanding of leadership at different levels through theories of "Extreme Ownership" and how they are directly applied to Illinois Law Enforcement through case scenarios reviews.
