"Refugees and Terrorists in Europe" will be presented by a top German police executive, Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schmidbauer, head of the Bavaria State police, on Monday, October 31 at 7:00PM in the Lumpkin Auditorium on the Eastern Illinois Campus. Schmidbauer, the highest ranking police officer in Bavaria, just has had the personal experience in July 2016 dealing with three "lone wolf" terrorist attacks in cities (including Munich) all in in his jurisdiction. Also, Germany had accepted one million refugees with most of them ending up in Bavaria. The university community and the public's knowledge of the international effort of forming an anti-terrorism policy would be greatly enhanced by attending this lecture with a question and answer period. Schmidbauer will be accompanied by the head of the Bavarian Bureau of Investigation, Robert Heimberger and Nobert Radmacher, Deputy Commander, Operations Division, Bavaria State Police.Prior to the lecture, there will be a social hour (6:00-7:00PM) in the 1895 Room of the EIU University Union for people to meet with the members of the German Delegation. Their appearance in Illinois is co-sponsored by the Illinois State Police and EIU's Public Policy Institute. The events are open to the public free of charge.
